family activities in sao jorge island - azores

This activity pack, Family on Land, has been designed for you share with your childrens and the whole family an adventure-filled day on the island of Sao Jorge. We will start this day with a visit to the cheese factory, where we will visit and taste the famous cheese from the island of Sao Jorge. Then we will continue to Faja of Cubres, where we will take a pedestrian walk to the mythical Fajã of Caldeira Santo Cristo. This walking tour has the extension of 10km (2 ways trip).

At Faja of Caldeira Santo Cristo, we will visit the fajã, the Interpretation Center and can swim in the lagoon of Faja of Caldeira Santo Cristo before lunch. In our lunch you can taste the clams (extra program) that reproduce in the lagoon of this fajã and only in this place in all the Azores. After resting the forces we will visit Furna do Póio (optional) and then we will start the journey on foot to return to the Fajã of Cubres (1 hour walk).
